IEW group writing and grammar classes
Sherri Habermehl is an accredited REGISTERED Instructor through the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW).
Susan Barton, the developer of the Barton Reading & Spelling System, recommends IEW's writing courses as an explicit and structured writing intervention for learners with dyslexia who have completed Level 4 of the Barton Reading & Spelling System and who are seeking writing instruction.
The group classes listed below are tailored for learners with dyslexia or other reading difficulties who have reached Level 4 (or higher) of the Barton system and who want to focus on improving their grammar and/or writing skills.
What does a Writing Class include?
30 weeks of instruction
Small group sizes (4-10 learners)
Personalized video feedback on every assignment submitted
Individualized checklists for each assignment: each learner is working on their own personalized goals

Habermehl Reading vs. Outschool
Habermehl Reading vs. Outschool
Habermehl Reading
Pros:
Substantially lower price per class due to avoiding overhead costs associated with running a class through Outschool.
Prices listed in CAD.
Supporting a woman-owned Canadian business.
Ability to connect directly with a human (rather than AI) with any technical or billing issues.
Cons:
May not be able to use scholarship funds as easily.
Classes are not recorded, so it is more difficult to catch up if you plan on missing sessions regularly.
Habermehl Reading on Outschool
Pros:
ESA scholarship funds can be used for payment.
Every session is recorded, so if you miss a class, you can watch the recording.
Additional classes and class times are offered.
Cons:
Higher price due to running the class through the Outschool platform.
Outschool is a large platform based out of the USA, so it can be difficult to speak to a human if you have any technical or billing issues.
